Medicine

OTC or prescription medication (no sharps) can disposed of through the Pharmaceutical Take Back Program.
  • For St. Augustine residents, the permanent Drop Box is located at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office main lobby: 4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. It is available to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays excluding holidays.
  • For Jacksonville residents, the permanent Drop Box is located at the Forsyth Street entrance of the Police Memorial Building at North Washington Street next to the jail. The box, next to the front desk, is available for the anonymous public disposal of drugs or unwanted medication 24 hours a day.

Household Hazardous Waste

  • Household Hazardous Waste items include: motor oil, oil filters, gasoline, wax, cleaners, soap, pool chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, grout, aerosol cans, antifreeze, adhesives, flea dip, car & appliance batteries, polishes, lubricants, muriatic acid, propane gas cylinders, solvents, thinner, transmission fluid, brake fluid, lighter fluid, fire extinguishers, linseed oil, naval jelly, photo chemicals, etc.
  • Obsolete Electronics include monitors, televisions, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, keyboards, mice, cables, game hardware, UPS units, external drives, modems, phones, pagers, radios, stereos, VCR's, tape players, speakers, small kitchen appliances, power tools, health and beauty appliances.
  • Waste Tires – Automobile and light truck tires only. Limit 10 per household and a disposal fee is charged.​

Jacksonville

Jacksonville residents may take items to the city's Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
​Open Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 5pm.

St. Augustine

Hazardous waste items can be dropped off (free of charge) at Tillman Ridge or Stratton Road Transfer Stations.
​
Open Monday - Friday 7am-6pm and Saturday 7am - 1pm.

​Jacksonville

Jacksonville residents may take items to the city's Household Hazardous Waste Facility.  Disposing paint/motor oil limits are 27 gallons of paint and/or 27 gallons of motor oil in a 30 day period per Duval County Resident.

​St. Augustine

These items must be brought to either the Tillman Ridge or Stratton Road Transfer Stations for disposal (fee charged).  For more information call (904) 827-6980 or email solidwaste@sjcfl.us.

Construction & Demolition Debris

Jacksonville

Residents doing small home projects performed by the homeowner, residents can discard up to one cubic yard (two full construction wheelbarrows or  (2) 96 gallon toters.) of building materials weekly on household garbage collection day. Materials must not exceed 5 feet in length or width or weigh more than 40 pounds. If possible, containerize all materials and place them separately from the household garbage for verification of quantities. If you will be generating quantities more than listed above, you will need to hire a rubbish removal company to provide a construction debris container. Any debris from work performed by a contractor must be removed by the contractor.

​St. Augustine

Debris must be taken to St. Marks C&D Disposal Facility off of International Golf Pkwy, (904) 825-2105 or Waste Pro Transfer Station off SR 207, (904) 819-1738.
